Moving record of strikes in America with great focus on the Depression era allegory. There are over fifty images here: Patterson Dyes, California fruit pickers right out of Grapes of Wrath, CWA, Chicago Motor Buses, Waldorf-Astoria, 1929 May Day Labor defending the Soviet Union (communism), infantry ready to move in on the railroad striker (1922), military ready for Missouri Mine Strike (several), postal workers in front of Manhattan post office, “Our Children Need Milk”, Alabama National Guard ready for mine workers, 1934 Detroit riots, shots fired in New Jersey, butchers in Milwaukee, and many more. Many wonderful picket signs tell the story in words and pictures of the plight of the worker in 20th century America.
