ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $100.00
Winning Bid: $327.18

He came within six minutes of the World Title, but allowed pride to conquer planning and lost it all. On June 18, 1941 Billy Conn was ahead on the cards against champion Joe Louis and was begged by his corner to just maintain his distance for the final two rounds of the fight. Overflowing with confidence and the need to impress his girl with a knock-out, he ignored their pleas....the rest is history. Seventy sensationally gritty photos cover events leading up to, during, and following the fight. Most own front or original copy along with press clippings, some with editor's markings and press stampings. Range in size between 6x8" to 8x10". Overall EX+-EX-MT.
