ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
Very special and historic felt baseball pennant for the Cleveland Naps, gently presented here in all it’s circa 1912 vintage beguilement. An unremarkable period for the Naps, a few years later they would change their name to the “Indians” after infielder Napoleon Lajoie left for the Philadelphia Athletics. “Naps” is spelled out in large calligraphic white letters against an opaque burgundy, with an image of a ballplayer anchoring flag at left, wearing catcher’s mitt, depicted in mid-throw. Lettering and player are NRMT. Tassels are worn and darkened, and wide base has two small pin holes. Remarkable condition for a relic like this, nearing one-hundred years! Measures 33 ½”.
