UPDATE: Redmond’s last season is 1967-68 and not 1968-69 as stated in the printed catalog.
These two vintage garments are riddled with character and nuance, being that their use by the Ontario Hockey League’s Peterborough Pete’s own Dick Redmond and Bill Gardner surely has seen some hard-fought, and won, battles. Defenseman Redmond’s last season (1967-68) with the Petes, in which he wore this wool treasure, was the first of eight consecutive winning seasons for the junior hockey team. It carries the yellow and red logo of “TPT: Toronto-Peterborough-Transport” on its front, which has a string-tied front opening v-neck, as well as a plethora of woven team-repairs, some holes, sweat stains, and brown markings of serious use. His maroon # 6 brightens the back. While Gardner’s more modern-looking jersey is less beaten-up, it none-the-less carries with it the magic of the second (1979) of three consecutive OHL championship wins, as well as that of the national junior title - the Memorial Cup in 1979. On its front is sewn in individual maroon letters, “Petes,” and a white #4 on each of the maroon striped sleeves, as well as a maroon #4 on back. There are a few holes and repairs on sleeves, as well as some minor markings and rips on front and back. Wilson size (44) tag is faded on inside collar. These are two truly vintage finds.
