A provoking collection of twenty-five photos taken throughout the 1940's, document the racial tensions and ignorance that divided the nation during that time. Images of violent crimes of hate and sanctioned segregation are mixed with few that, at the time, provided some with hope. Original captions are either printed upon or attached to the reverse of each with corresponding International Newsreel, Associated Press, and World Wide Press stamps on the versos. Overall EX+. Photos range from 6.5x8.5" to 8x10". Also included is a memo from the San Francisco District Attorney that includes a copy of the 1947 report, "The Negro And Crime In San Francisco", EX+.
