Lot 73: First Hit of the 1932 Season
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Seemingly mundane image of the 1932 opener but there is something truly special about this image of the first hit of the 1932 season. The crowd is alive with pageantry, the stadium is dressed to the nines, the players live with the ball in play, and there is truly color in this seemingly b/w photograph. One of your faves of the collection. Oh yes, President Hoover has thrown out the true “First Ball,” yet for the last time as Prez. Original paper caption. International Newsreel stamp on verso. Tiny corner chip o/w EX-MT. 8.25x10.5”.
