A preciously rare, pen & ink 1924 Toonerville Trolley cartoon by Fontaine Fox, featuring a baseball theme, where the town bully, Mickey (Himself) McGuire, is recruited by a neighboring baseball team to play for them. This was a published piece, here in a personal and original rendering, with a presentation inscription by artist Fox, which reads, “To Harry B. Smith with compliments of Fontaine Fox". An actual very thin paper strip is applied to bottom right corner dating the panel “Copyright, 1924". Measures 10 ½ x 12 ½”, with minor soiling & two tiny corner chips o/w EX.
