This is an extremely rare card of the legendary Honus Wagner. Produced by General Baking Co. of Buffalo, NY from 1911-14 the D304 set is very similar in design to tobacco and candy card of the era. The slight difference is the cards are a bit larger measuring 1-3/4" x 2-1/2". The cards are available with five different back styles; Brunners, Butter Krust, General Baking Co, Weber Bakery, and Martens Bakery. This example has a great full body pose of Wagner following through with his swing. The blue and green background colors have remained very vivid over the years. The card is well centered and does show wear to all 4 corners. Additionally, there are some light wrinkles which run the card. The text on the reverse is clear and the back is free of any stock loss, however there is a small amount of toning. This many not be the nicest example in existence, but with a card this rare one can not afford to be all that picky. According to the most recent population report, SGC has graded only 7 total examples with just 2 grading higher (both receiving the grades of SGC 40 GD+ 2.5). This hobby rarity will make an excellent addition to any advanced card collection.
