The Tramp and the Champ - that is, Hollywood auteur Charlie Chaplin and welterweight champion boxer of 1915-16 Ted “Kid” Lewis - sparring in a staged photograph, circa 1918. Arguably the best cinematic artist and boxer ever to come out of England, they enliven this B&W 9 x 7 ½” image with an inscription, “Best Wishes to Mike McGowan from Charlie Chaplin and Ted Lewis,” and two 9/10 signatures scribed playfully in between the two celebrities’ vested torsos. Condition is VG, but looks better.
