Founded in 1898 in Brockton, Massachusetts, the Stall and Dean Company is one of the oldest sporting goods manufacturers in the U.S.A. Over the years, their catalogs have offered uniforms and equipment for many sports, at all levels of play, and have included ringing endorsements from players from Bobby Orr to Ty Cobb and Ted Williams. To this day, the company is located in its original factory, still producing some uniforms on century-old sewing machines. In fact, the factory has been termed "a museum of American manufacturing". This vintage wooden Stall & Dean sign measures 16" x 8" x 1/2", and presents the company name and a direction arrow in gold on a roughly textured field. Some weathering and a bit of scuffing is evident, but add an authentic and historic feel to this unusual and attractive sign.
