In the late 1950's and 60's a good number of NHL goal tenders were trying out various degrees of masks. While Jacques Plante was the 1st to use a mask in the NHL, we have found a photo of Johnny Bower wearing a clear mask. Though not the same mask as in the auction, it is very similar. Cat Francis is also known to have tried out this clear mask. A very unique piece for goalie mask collectors.
