Pitler was the Pirates' second baseman in 1917, then played and managed in the minors for many years. He coached the Dodgers under four managers. He was a coach for the World Champion 1955 Dodgers. When the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles he became a scout rather than move to L.A. Calling this piece rare would be a vast understatement.
