Just what you'd expect from a game used Major League batting helmet - worn down, dirty, a rip here and chipped paint there, and what's left of the inner foam could hardly be called padding. War-torn by the early 70's Oakland Athletics, it is a mystery as to which of the Swingin' A's palmed this protection to their skull; careful inspection to the back of the helmet reveals residue from where a piece of athletic tape was affixed with the player's number. The tape is no longer there, so we do not know who donned this relic. One clue is the fact that it is a left-handed model made by the American Baseball Cap Company. It is a very rare style - its dominant yellow color, with a green painted bill and "A's" on the front. Terrific overall use.
