Lot 442: Earl Averill Presentational Hall of Fame Plaque
ITEM DESCRIPTION
"The Rock of Earl" entered the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in 1975. The six-time All-Star compiled a real nice career that saw him retire with a lifetime batting average of .318. He was the only AL outfielder to be named to the first six All-Star Games. This is the actual plaque (6 x 8-5/8") given to Averill upon his induction to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY! It comes in the handsome original frame (9-5/8 x 11-5/8"). Accompanying the plaque is a photo (3-1/2 x 4-3/4") of Averill receiving this very plaque from Commissioner Bowie Kuhn at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony in September of 1975. EX-MT.
