"Four strikes, your out!" Huh? In 1887, briefly, baseball had a 5 balls/4 strikes rule, but changed it the following year to three strikes, and four balls for a walk in 1889. This very rare, Spalding Celluloid Umpire Indicator reflects that 1887 dynamic of 5 balls/4 strikes, and is fully functional and EX-MT. Measuring 3 x 1 ½”, this clicker comes with its original box (VG), a vintage gray rarity, the first we have ever seen come with the clicker of this format. On the box is black lettering, and its original price at 50¢.
