His body language - right leg turned in and right arm in a follow through, with no baseball in sight, and beatific facial expression, makes this photograph a sublime and memorable keeper. It was in 1908 that Paul Thompson took this sepia-toned black and white photo (EX), measuring 4 ¾ x 6 ¾”, with penciled notation “Detroit American Team, Right Field, 1908” on the back, as well as a thin sticker on back upper right with same info. Pinhole in upper right, and stamping on back.
