Bittersweet remembrance, being this was the last year, 1926, that the legend was with the Detroit Tigers as a player/manager. He went on to play two more seasons with the Philadelphia Athletics after a controversy in late 1926, involving the Cleveland Indians player/manager Tris Speaker and allegations of the two managers fixing a game, rushed his retirement from the Tigers.
