Lot 1042: John Lennon "Double Fantasy" Platinum Record Award
ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
After a 5-year hiatus from recording, John Lennon returned to the studio with Yoko Ono, lots of energy and loads of great new material. "Life is what happens to you / while you're busy making other plans" is just one of many memorable lines (Beautiful Boy) from this legendary album. Released on November 17, 1980, "Double Fantasy" was an instant hit, eventually selling over one million copies and receiving the 1981 Grammy for Best Album of the Year. Three weeks after its release, Lennon would be assassinated by a crazed fan. We offer the RIAA Platinum Record Award presented to Warner Bros. for the sale of 1,000,000 copies. The Award is beautifully framed under glass, to a dimension of 17" x 21" and includes the 12" LP, a brass presentation plaque, and a raised 3 1/2" X 3 1/2" inset of the album cover. EX-MT.
