Lot 646: Hank Aaron's 727th Career Home Run Signed Baseball

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $750.00
Winning Bid: $7,990.03
Price Realized: $9,548.09
Auction Date:4/28/2006 9:00 PM EST

The march to immortality continued as it had so many times before and 28 more times after this occurrence when Henry Aaron went deep for a then record 727th time in 1974. Well-used Spalding official NL ball (Feeney) is signed "Best Wishes to Dave, Hank Aaron" (7/10). The "Dave" is Dave Freisleben, former major leaguer who was fortunate enough to have this relic land near him in the bullpen area. "727" is written in pen on one side as well. Was signed the next day at batting practice by The Hammer. The chance to own an Aaron home run ball in the 700's gets tougher every day. Comes with a handwritten letter of provenance from Mr. Dave Freisleben.
