Lot 485: 1920 World Series Ticket Stub From "The Wamby Game"

A ticket stub from the1920 World Series, Cleveland vs. Brooklyn in Game 2 at Cleveland (Game 5 in the Series), the legendary "Wamby Game". With the Series tied 2-2, both teams were ready for the decisive fifth game. In the first inning, Elmer Smith of the Indians smashed the first Grand Slam in Series history; in the fourth inning, Bill "Wamby" Wambsganss of the Indians completed the only unassisted triple play in Series history and then Indians pitcher Jim Bagby became the first pitcher to hit a World Series home run. A wild game, and a triumphant one for the Indians, who went on to win the game 8-1 and the Series five games to two. The colorful 4" x 2" ticket is printed on both sides. A tear in the upper left corner, but VG overall.
