The 1999-2000 season saw the New Jersey Devils win their second Stanley Cup. On the way, they naturally captured the Prince of Wales Trophy, awarded yearly to the Eastern Conference champions. The trophy represents a tradition that started in 1924 when the Prince of Wales donated a trophy to the NHL. This one belonged to Juergen Merz, the team's massage therapist. It stands 13" high including the 4-1/2" square wooden base. Two plates adorn the base: "NHL Champions New Jersey Devils 1999-2000" and on the opposite side "H. R. H.
