Four candid Beatles black & white photographs, all dating from 1961, and featuring Paul McCartney, George Harrison, John Lennon and Pete Best, the drummer before Ringo Starr. One photo was taken at the famous "Cavern" in Liverpool, where the Beatles first performed in May, just before leaving for their historic trip to Hamburg. Two photographs were taken by noted lensman Dick Matthews at the Tower Ballroom in New Brighton, and the final one shows the band performing at the Aintree Institute. These wonderful photos capture the fun - and intensity - of these young performers literally on the verge of stardom, and all have handwritten captions on the reverse. Three of the photos measure 8" x 10", the fourth is 6 1/2" x 9". Condition is NRMT, with crop markings at the borders.
