In February 1955, Ruby, Al and Sam Pastor (three brothers), purchased the Pepsi-Cola bottling plant in Buffalo. On July 17, 1956, the Chicago Blackhawks sold the Professional Buffalo Hockey Bisons Club Inc., to Reuben Pastor. In an effort to tie together the Pastor's Pepsi business with hockey, they introduced the now famous Buffalo hockey bottle cap logo as the team's new emblem. The logo featured Pepsi's classic red and blue wave inside a stylized bottle cap and the word “Buffalo” positioned where the words "Pepsi-Cola" would be. At first the AHL was not happy about the logo but eventually relented when they realized it was a great marketing strategy for the league. It is red with white and blue trim (matching Pepsi's color scheme) with the number "6" on the reverse and on both sleeves. Numerous small holes and the sleeves have been cut down to a short sleeve look. Many jerseys from this set had the sleeves cut off. This is a highly sought after jersey.
