Lot 400: 1966 Brooks Robinson All Star Game Used Bat

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $1,000.00
Winning Bid: $5,466.85
Price Realized: $6,532.89
Auction Date:4/28/2006 9:00 PM EST

Considered by many to be the greatest fielding third basemen in the history of the game. The sentiment was captured beautifully when an umpire said that he played third base like he came down from a higher league. It is one of the few of Brooks' All Star bats that are still available out there in the collecting world. He used it in St. Louis for the 1966 mid-summer classic. It is an H&B model. "MC44" engraved on the knob with Brooks' "5" in black marker written over the engraving. Use is light but definite with several seam marks on the barrel, red and green marks from the Busch Stadium bat rack, and a heavily cracked upper handle. Right side of the barrel also appears to have some scoring on it. "All Star Game Brooks Robinson (script) 1966-Saint Louis" on the barrel.
