In his military uniform, Lieutenant Jack Roosevelt Robinson looks up confidently while signing his first baseball contract, August 28, 1945. After discussions with Branch Rickey, Jackie Robinson signed with the Montreal Royals, a Dodgers farm team, moving up to the Majors in 1947.
