Lot 407: Bob Welch 1988 Oakland A's World Series Game-Worn Jersey

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $500.00
Winning Bid: $491.63
Price Realized: $587.50
Auction Date:4/28/2006 9:00 PM EST

Bob Welch accumulated 211 wins over a 17-season career, won the 1990 Cy Young Award with a 27-6 record, and appeared in four World Series, two apiece for the Dodgers and the Oakland A's. When he was traded to the Dodgers in 1988, Welch soon found himself facing his very recent teammates in the World Series. Although the A's lost in five games, Welch went on to his great Cy Young year in 1990, before retiring in 1994. This superb game-worn jersey has his number "35" on front and back, with "WELCH" across the shoulders. The left arm features the A's emblem of an elephant with bat standing atop a baseball. The right arm has a nice 1988 World Series patch, and Rawlings markings are found inside and out. Condition is NRMT, with some light signs of game use.
