Lot 943: World War II All Stars Team Photo From the Eddie Shore Collection
ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
During World War II a good chunk of the NHL players went into the armed services, leaving a depleted league. In order to raise funds for the war effort a team of players was formed that was one of the most impressive in the history of the game. This original photo of that team belonged to the great Eddie Shore, who was part of the team. Other players on the team included Frank Boucher, Bill Cook, Bun Cook, Ching Johnson, Cy Wentworth, Red Horner, Chas. Conacher, Hooley Smith and Larry Aurie. The photo (13-1/2 x 10-1/2") is still surrounded by the original matte (17 x 14"). The team wore "V" for victory sweaters. In their primes, this would have been a tough team to beat. Some would say almost impossible. NRMT condition with an LOA from Shore's son.
