This “New York Club” No. 47 Horse Hide Cover ball is a tremendous find. Likely a game ball of the late 20s-early 30s era, it has been signed by Babe Ruth on the sweet spot and dated 8/1/29 in his hand just under his signature. It also has signatures by Lou Gehrig, Wally Berger, Tony Lazzeri and perhaps others. The outstanding feature of this ball is the fantastic Gehrig signature at least an 8, perhaps 9 out of 10. Aside from the Gehrig, the other signatures have faded some from exposure to light over the years. The P. Goldsmith Sons Co. ball shows some signs of age, scuffing and discoloration with tight stitching and seams and is itself in excellent condition.
