ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
Rogers Hornsby joined the 1927 NY Giants as player-manager, and produced a 33-22 record during his term. “Rajah’s” contribution extended of course to the playing field, where his 205 hits, 26 home runs and .362 season average helped take the Giants to a close 3-way race for the pennant, finally won by Pittsburgh. The Hall of Fame infielder was highly productive throughout his career; over 23 incredible seasons, Hornsby accumulated 2930 hits, including 301 home runs, while achieving a .358 lifetime batting average. This 8 ½” x 6 ½” photo shows Hornsby studying the bat selection during spring training. On the reverse, a caption provides the details, and is dated 3-6-27, and a Baseball Magazine authenticity seal will also be found. Condition is VG, with a horizontal hairline crease across the photo and some wrinkling along the edges.
