Early 20th century photos of the St. Louis Browns in spring training in St. Petersburg, FL. First image (6-7/8 X 4-3/4”) shows the Browns drilling during WWI. A fellow in full military outfit stands facing the camera at attention near home plate. Behind him, 26 players in 2 rows of 13. They too are at military attention and facing the camera. Next to the players, 4 men in suits, presumably team executives. Behind everyone are 2 sets of seats, 1 covered, the other not. Reverse has Baseball Magazine hologram and some notes in pencil. Second photo shows 6 players limbering up on the field in front of a large fence. Along the upper edge “St. Louis Americans At St. Petersburg.” Pic has slight damage in upper right corner. Reverse of photo (5 X 4”) stamped “Special Sporting Service George Grantham Bain 32 Union Square, East” and is dated “Mar 16, 1914.” Overall EX-MT.
