Altrock was a good pitcher but a better on field entertainer while coaching 3rd base. Three photos from the Baseball Magazine archive of the always amusing Nick Altrock here. The first is a close-up (6 X 8”) of him, all smiles, and it’s an infectious smile of real joy, not some phony publicity shot. Next up, a photo (6 X 8”) of Altrock and fellow Washington coach Al Schacht yukking it up, pretending to take photos of each other in front of a howling Ladies Day crowd. The 3rd and final shot (6-3/4 X 8-3/4”) is clowning with his pet dog, Ambrose, who is clad in cap, goggles, and with a pipe dangling from his jowls. They’re the perfect couple.
