Lot 91: Original Vintage Baseball Photos (27) From NY Times

UPDATE: These photographs are from the family of Joe DiMaggio and were to be used for display in Joe’s famous San Francisco restaurant. They come in their original yellow envelope with mailing label. They were sent by New York Times Pulitzer Prize winning photographer, Ernie Sisto to Tom DiMaggio, at the restaurant. These are all Hall of Fame inductees all with original pencil hand written references on the back as to whom they are.
Major league baseball has been around for quite some time now but The New York Times has been around even longer, and some of the greatest newspaper photos have appeared there. Baseball is no exception with thousands of photos through the years. Offered here, the originals featuring some of the greats: Ty Cobb, Cy Young, Grover Cleveland Alexander, Christy Mathewson, Honus Wagner, Jimmie Foxx, Charlie Gehringer, Willie Keeler, Jack Chesbro, Nap Lajoie, Joe Cronin, Frank Baker, Pie Traynor, Eddie Collins, Jimmy Collins, Roger Bresnahan, Ted Lyons, Billy Hamilton, Tim Keefe, Dan Brouthers, Jim O’Rourke, King Kelly, Wilbert Robinson, John Clarkson, Tom Connolly, Bill Klem, and Fred Clarke. Comes in a large black portfolio (14-3/4 X 17-7/8”).
