The youth, power and intensity of this legendary ballplayer are captured in this stunning original composition by celebrated sports illustrator Burris Jenkins. The work is designed as two pieces, with DiMaggio in full swing, superimposed above / behind a cityscape, with his name in script in the sky behind, white-tinted, as though a skywriting airplane had just passed by. Very effective! Pencil and charcoal on heavy paper, image size 14 3/4 x 19 1/2”, with size including margins 18 x 22”. The provenance is also extra special, as the drawing hung in DiMaggio’s restaurant for many years. Condition is EX-MT, ready to be framed and hung in a place of honor.
