Charlie Chaplin once entered a Charlie Chaplin Look-Alike Contest in Monte Carlo, Monaco. He placed third. In the end, everything is a gag. It is near impossible to visualize Chaplin as Tramp without his bowler hat. The image endures almost one hundred years after it first appeared. The trademark look was inspired by the poverty of his early years. When his English mother first saw him wearing it, she cried, “Charlie, I have to get you a new suit!” Wax head of a balding Chaplin comes to us from Philadelphia where it was part of a wax museum exhibit in the 1930’s. Chaplin is here just like you remember him. His moustache is trimmed neatly and his blue green eyes are lifelike. His look is serious just as it was in all of his films as outrageous things happened to and around him. Condition is NRMT and of course his hat accompanies him. Hat is a 7-1/4 and manufactured by Adam. As long as there are people, the image of Chaplin and hat will live on.
