From ballplayer to broadcaster--it’s a path that a number of superstars have taken, Babe Ruth, included, as this 1937 NRMT publicity photograph suggests. Babe signed on to be a commentator giving his take on major league games and players. Twice a week, he broadcast on 61 radio stations. His sponsor was the Sinclair Refining Company. During the program, a number of prizes were offered to listeners. The big prize: two Nash Ambassador Eights. Here we see Babe, wearing a his 1934 tour uniform, posing alongside one of the automobiles. The back of the NRMT 8 x 10” photograph has a typewritten photo caption attached as well as some numbers, most likely blue pencil editor’s notes. This nifty Babe Ruth photo is ready for
framing...and admiring!
