After a 3-year “retirement”, Babe Ruth returned to baseball in 1938 as a coach for the Dodgers. This wonderful photograph of Ruth and Tony Lazzeri, then playing outfield for the Cubs, depicts a heart-warming on-the-field reunion of two old friends and teammates. There can be no doubt that everyone connected with baseball was delighted to see Ruth back on the field, and surely no one was more pleased than the Babe.
