Most football and uniform afficionados would characterize this powder blue uniform of the San Diego Chargers as one of the ten most beautiful sports uniforms of all time. However, in the grueling world that is NFL football, the most beautiful team is not necessarily the most feared team, which is why Sid Gilman, legendary architect of San Diego’s air attack and the team’s first head coach, wanted his charges to look meaner. So the team’s unis went from powder blue to royal blue to navy blue. For one game each season this powder blue throwback makes a comeback. This jersey is Fred McCrary’s number 44 from the 2002 season and was originally purchased from NFL Auctions. The “02-48” tag is sewn into the collar and one game use is evident on this otherwise excellent powder blue beauty. NFL authentication intact.
