In 1950, Topps introduced football cards packaged with bubble gum. The 1950 Topps Felt Backs, a miniature card set consisting of 100 top college football players was the smallest regular issue that Topps ever produced. The cards came with a likewise miniature size piece of gum. Card and gum were wrapped in foil and surrounded by a paper wrapper announcing the product. Most of these cards have been destroyed or lost. This near complete set includes 97 out of the original 100. Some of the big names are: Joe Paterno, Jackie Jensen, Darell Royal, Emil Sitko, Billy Conn, Arnold Galiffa and Charlie Justice. Hagen, Hart and Martin are missing. The reverse of the felt cards display the team pennants of the players. Felt Back cards are only 7/8” by 1 7/16” and the collection ranges from VG to EX-MT.
