The early 20th century hockey sets known as C55-C57 are the genesis of hockey cards. The cards combine incredible artwork, true scarcity and the only card depictions of several key Hall of Fame legends. This lot offers a complete 45 card example of the 1911-12 C55 set in low to mid grade. An overall grade of VG is appropriate as most cards grade GD, VG or VG/EX. A few selected examples were submitted for grading at PSA, with these results: #4 Malone PSA 2, #8 MacDonald PSA 4, #12 Shore PSA 4, #18 Vair PSA 4, #31 Ross PSA altered, #34 Glass PSA 4, #37 Bernier PSA 4, #38 Vezina PSA 3 and #42 Lalonde PSA 4. This is a very solid collector grade example of this very important hockey issue, and will surely be a fine addition to any vintage hockey collection.
