Lot 1085: Dazzy Vance MVP Award
ITEM DESCRIPTION
1924 “Dazzy” Vance MVP Award. An especially scarce and desirable item, one of only two in existence. A Hall of Fame pitcher whose most productive years (1922 - 1933) were with the Brooklyn Dodgers, Vance won the MVP for his 28-6 record, with 30 (yes, 30!) complete games. A strikingly beautiful award medal, with “The National Baseball League - Most Valuable Player / Awarded / To / Arthur C. Vance 1924” circling a relief torso of a player in period costume with ring of laurel. Reverse “Robbins Co / Attleboro / Mass.” Dia. 3”. Condition, NRMT, except for two spots of corrosion between letters of “Vance”. This is identical to but not the one given to Vance.
