Lot 1418: Unique Wayne Gretzky Autographed Jersey Collection (6)
Auction Date:11/30/2005 9:00 PM EST
Follow Gretzky’s career, jersey by jersey. The Greatest played in a few different places and we’ve got the signed jerseys to prove it. His first professional stop was with the Indianapolis Racers of the WHA and his white jersey has red and blue trim and has the “99” that would go on to become one of the most famous numbers in all of sports history. Next up, Edmonton, where he carved up the record book of the NHL while winning 5 Cups with the Oilers. Then came the trade that shook hockey, sending Wayne to Hollywood and the LA Kings. From LA he went next to St. Louis and his short 18 game stint with the Blues. It was almost inevitable that he end up in the Big Apple and in the ’96-’97 season he reunited with Messier on the Rangers. The final jersey is from a special promotion in 1994 when he signed 999 jerseys that bear the NHLPA patch. This is jersey # 192. It comes with a photo of Gretzky autographing it.
