Lot 619: 1920’s Riggs Stephenson Game Used H&B Bat (35”)
ITEM DESCRIPTION

Riggs Stephenson was the ultimate throwback player for the Chicago Cubs. He made two World Series appearances in 1929 and 1932, shining on the brightest stage by hitting .378 with 7 RBIs in just 9 games. A two-sports star at the University of Alabama, his reliable hitting stroke earned him the nickname of ‘Old Hoss.’ This is a very tough bat from one of the early Cubs’ greats. The Hillerich and Bradsby signature model displays nice use with a scored barrel and cracked handle. The crack is held together by vintage nails, a nice reflection of the gritty determination of Stephenson to fight through the injuries that plagued him during his career. The 35-inch bat has slight separation of the grain in back.
