On verso is a slew of stampings by Underwood & Underwood Photos, pencil markings and an affixed caption ID’ing the shot as being from Oct. 9, 1926 and the 6th inning of Game 6. Evidently the ball Ruth hit went foul, as history records he walked on that at-bat in the Cards’ 10-2 win behind Grover Cleveland Alexander, who’d save Game 7 even though in a drunken stupor. (Ruth made the last out of the Series getting thrown out trying to steal second base.) Photo is G w/some warping and corner fray, and a wonderful historical freeze-frame.
