If you think old time baseball you’re thinking of equipment manufactured by the A.G. Spalding & Bros. Company. This rare cardboard box (12” x 9” x 3-1/2”) is early 20th century and was once the home of 12 spanking new baseballs. The center of the lid has the words “Spalding “Official National League” Ball Patent Cushioned Cork Center” surrounding a drawing of a Spalding Official National League Ball to the right of one of an individual Spalding baseball box. Between the two figures is a drawing of a letter of certification. Around the edge of the lid it reads “Spalding Base Balls Are Standard Throughout The World” and a depiction of their “Gold Medal” model bat on each side. The box displays normal handling faults commensurate with its age, including a minor tear (no paper loss), abrasions and edge wear. The colors remain strong and vibrant and the box is in VG-EX condition.
