Description
In 1934 Bill Cowley played for the St. Louis Eagles. At the end of the season the team disbanded and the Bruins picked him up in a dispersal draft. In Boston he would become an enormous star and the NHL’s greatest playmaker, helping to lead the Bruins to two Stanley Cups in 1939 and 1941. He won the Hart Memorial Trophy as the league’s most valuable player in 1941 and 1943, a scoring title in 1941, and was on track to shatter the league record for scoring in 1944 when an injury ended his season two points short. At the time of his retirement in 1947 he was the NHL’s all-time leading point scorer. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1968. This magnificent wool jersey is beige with black and gold trim. The inside tag has “Horace Partridge Co. Boston” and “42” on it. Boston ‘B’ logo patch on both sleeves. The front and verso bear a large #10. With just a few minor blemishes, this piece is in outstanding condition. A very important sweater.
