Mary and Benjamin Purnell founded the nucleus of the Seventh Church at the Latter-Day, the Israelite House of David, Church of the New Eve, Body of Christ. This group produced a traveling baseball team that could flat out play. They faced the National League Champion St. Louis Cardinals, playing under the lights before about 10,000 fans, and started a 19 year-old female pitcher, to boot. Her name was Babe Diedrikson. Along with her long haired and bearded teammates, they defeated the Cardinals, 8 to 6 at Sportsman’s Park. These scarce broadsides are ads to get people out to see them in person. Both are for games against Kelso in the Pacific Northwest. The broadsides are in VF-EX condition and measure 16X22”.
