A killer Johnny Bench gamer pinpointed to an exact period here. H&B B278 has a fantastic look, with great use evident. Lots of ball and seam marks in proper location. Minor checking of wood is barely noticeable. Vintage #5 in marker on knob and barrel ends. A very small crack in handle put this out of commission late in the 1978 season. Dated lumber was put aside for the Red Gift Shop with old athletic tape affixed to barrel end (9-29-78 written on it). Nice signature in black Sharpie as well. An absolutely perfect Bench bat.
