Lot 1321: Circa 1963-64 Dave Keon Game Worn Maple Leafs Jersey
Auction Date:11/30/2005 9:00 PM EST
You might say this Captain crunched his opponents. After all, Dave Keon was Captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs from the 1969-70 season until 1974-75. He was known as one of the Maple Leafs most productive offensive stars of the 1960s . He was such a speedster on the ice, and one of the best defensive forwards of his era. He dominated opposing centers. And he seemed to have one memorable game after another. With such an intensive record, we assume he performed well while wearing this game worn Maple Leafs Jersey sometime around 1963-64. It’s rare that someone of the caliber of Hall-of-Famer Dave Keon skates out on the ice and it’s rare that we have a hockey sweater in this remarkable condition. From the beginning of his 22-year career (18 in the NHL), this wonderful wool, tie-front, game-worn Jersey still has the Doug Laurie Sports and dry cleaning tags on the tail. The jersey adorned by the superb passer and physical player shows nice use with stick marks and two team repairs on the right elbow. With 396 career goals Keon has been argued to be one of, if not the greatest Toronto Maple Leaf of all time, and this sweater proudly reflects his storied career with the Blue and White. Jersey originates from the famous Torchy Schell Collection. Top of the ladder original six shirt, you’ll want to make a strong defensive move and not let this hockey jersey pass you by. Goal!
