Lot 545: 1952 Topps Store Display Photo
ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
If only we could go back in time and bring back the stacks of Topps boxes in this vintage 1952 photo of a baseball card display at a Woolworth’s department store in The Bronx. Imagine what some of the mint-condition babies in that mountain of cardboard would be worth today -- especially the ‘52 Mantle! Great photo is likely one of the earliest such displays seen in stores, with the accoutrements around the table adding to the flavor of the era, such as in the flannel uniform on a mannequin of a little kid and the simple felt pennants that used to line every kid’s bedroom walls. 8 x 10 black and white photo is VG w/a few creases unaffecting the central image of the boxes. For card collectors, this is a real link with the hobby’s past.
