A stunning artifact from Yankee Stadium, pre-1973 renovation. When Yankee Stadium was made over in ‘73, some great pieces left the premises. This is an impressive one. It’s a 1/4” door window plate glass with a large Yankees logo and plaque on the glass, “From Yankee Stadium “The House That Ruth Built” 50th Anniversary 1923-73.” It either adorned one of the locker rooms or the GM’s office and probably dates from sometime in the 50’s. The glass is 24-7/8 x 23-3/4” and the wooden frame is 25-3/8 x 24-1/4.” Certificate comes from the Chamber of Commerce of the Borough of Queens City of New York and was presented to Invirex Demolition, Inc., the company in charge of the demolition and reconstruction of Yankee Stadium. Acquired at an estate sale in the late 1990’s. This is “the” classic sports logo as created by illustrator extraordinaire Lon Keller.
